 February Spotlight: SSCPS February Annual Fund

Dear SSCPS Friends and Family,

I have some fabulous news to share! An anonymous donor has stepped up to the plate and challenged the SSCPS community to match their gift of $5,000 in the month of February. There is no better time than now to consider a gift to SSCPS. All new and increased gifts received between February 1st and February 29th will qualify. With your help, we can maintain and enhance current programs and reach our goal of 100% participation. Every gift is appreciated and counts, no matter what size!

Every dollar raised from the SSCPS Annual Fund goes directly toward the programs, people, and facilities at SSCPS. It is our hope that every family will participate in annual giving to the best of their ability to help us reach our goal. When the school seeks outside funding from philanthropic organizations, parent giving is viewed as tangible evidence of the school’s mission. Thus, parent participation is viewed as a vote of confidence in the school.

Annual giving at SSCPS provides many of the “extras” that enhance and distinguish an SSCPS education. Like many other charter schools, we depend upon annual giving to bridge the gap between the public school tuition rate per child and the full cost of an SSCPS education. Annual giving provides a significant percentage of the school’s operating budget and enables us to attract and retain dedicated, talented, and creative faculty and staff whom offer an unparalleled array of academic, enrichment, athletic, music, and arts programming. Your gift to the Annual Fund will help us offer each student a truly exceptional educational experience.

Many of the gifts to the Annual Fund can be doubled, or in some cases tripled because of corporate and foundation matching gifts made to their employees, retirees, and directors. If you are eligible, obtain a matching gift form from your employer, complete and sign the form, and send it to SSCPS along with, or following your gift (please follow instructions based on your company or foundation).

I want to take this opportunity to send out a very special thanks to the Parent Association for heading up the Annual Fund effort this year. Your tireless efforts are recognized and highly appreciated! I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank the parents, staff and faculty who have generously donated their time this year to our events and phone-a-thons. It was a pleasure to get to know at least some of you while working side-by-side at Gillette Stadium… cooking hundreds of pizzas, flipping dozens of fried dough and serving endless amounts of hotdogs together in support of the South Shore Charter Public School.
