SSCPS SCHOOL COUNCIL

School Council at South Shore Charter Public School is an advisory board consisting of the Principal, Assistant Principals, faculty members, parents, and students. The School Council works with the Principal to discuss school needs and to identify opportunities to create or enhance school programs. School Council provides a forum for school stakeholders to come together to share ideas and help shape the direction SSCPS takes in the continuous process of improving teaching and learning.

The development and monitoring of the School Improvement Plan is the primary focus of the School Council. Each year the Council rewrites the plan which is submitted to the Board of Trustees for a vote prior to the start of the new school year. The group also plays an important role in the revision of the Student and Family Handbook.

School Council meets monthly throughout the school year and all meetings are open to the entire school community. Faculty representatives on the Council volunteer for the position while parent representatives are chosen by the Parents Association. Two student members from the high school level are voted on by their peers.

SSCPS School Council meetings are via Zoom and begin at 6:30pm.
