THE JJ FACEY SSCPS SCHOLARSHIP

Jason Wakefield Emeka Facey, Jr., affectionately known as JJ, was a vibrant force both on and off the soccer field. Known for his bright smile and inspiring leadership, he earned the nickname "Big Foot" for his precision corner kicks and powerful shots. JJ’s love for soccer blossomed early, taking him from his first training session at age four to competing with renowned teams such as the Boston Bolts and Juventus Academy. 

As a player, leader, and friend, JJ was a source of encouragement and connection for everyone around him. His untimely passing on August 19, 2024, has left an irreplaceable void, but his legacy continues to inspire action and awareness, ensuring his story is far from over.

South Shore Charter Public School will be raising money again this year for a scholarship to be awarded to two senior students who embody the characteristics of JJ Facey: Sportsmanship, Character, and Respect.

JJ was a consummate leader. JJ would often offer advice to his fellow students, join the principal for discussions with students, and raise the confidence of his teammates on and off the field. He is still helping his fellow students, but in a different way now: by funding their dreams in honor of his name.
